Unusual Kindness

Third Week of Ordinary Time

As we continue to celebrate Christian unity week, it is our coming together that enables us to be more than we could be on our own.  In this spirit, the Human Trafficking lecture last weekend struck a chord: many different agencies were present and, combined with law enforcement representatives, were focussed on stopping modern slavery. The theme for Christian Unity week is “Unusual Kindness.” I wonder if this may encourage us in modest ways, to play our part in combatting this horrific crime. It was encouraging that many parishioners from across our deanery attended and perhaps as a pastoral area we can look to come together and work in partnership by supporting the follow-up meeting at St Vincent’s on Friday evening on 7th February (full details tbc). Pope Francis on modern slavery: “Things have a price and can be for sale. But people have a dignity that is priceless and worth far more than things.” God Bless, Helen
