The Power of Prayer
I do hope you are all safe and well. Getting used to a surreal new reality has been challenging. Working from home has meant not doing the washing, cleaning, gardening and odd jobs during “office hours” and ensuring my sons are focussed on schoolwork: not always easy!
This week I’ve been phoning parishioners, populating the website, learning new tech to help communicate better, meeting virtually, and essentially seeing what can be done in some parishes to support those most vulnerable. However prayer is often the only thing to do, especially in these times of social distancing. A new section for Prayer Requests on the website allows individual prayer requests to be sent to the sisters at Carmel and connects us with the community in a very special way. The FCJ Centre at St Hugh’s are offering prayers via their Facebook page and we can join with them every evening at 8pm by lighting a candle in our window and praying for our world. Many have been able to access the live-streaming of Mass. Please note that Fr Peter is now live streaming from his home chapel daily (including Sunday) at 10am. It is our communal prayer that encourages, strengthens, sustains and unites us, despite our physical distance.
“God is not calling us to go to church; God is calling us to be his church, the hope of the world.” From mybible.com: 1 Cor 12:27. Stay safe, you are all in my daily prayer. God Bless Helen
